Lying and the Esteem, the Sacred Bond Between You and Your Psyche

Lying. Our parents try to instill to us that lying is bad. Right? Why do we do it then? Is it just because it’s easy rather than having to always risk the truth coming out and changing something not always for the better? My parents would hate it when I or my brother would lie. They’d threaten with crazy grounding and punishments that at the time I was terrified of. I hated being punished. I still do to this day hate being punished but now I’m older….different.
What about white lies? They’re no different right? Right? I mean why do we use them so often? I think we do to protect ourselves from prying people and to protect the delicate balance of friendships. It’s none of their business what you do with your life.
