An interesting take on the dreaded friendzone
Trust me. It’s not just the guys. We girls also have the same struggle.
Why is it that everything, from pop culture to casual observations on the street, seems to be focused on the males? Why do we assume that they are the only ones who get “friendzoned?” Why is the world androcentric? Why, why, whhhhhyyyyy…?
But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let us take it a step back:
First off: what is the “friendzone?” From the wise words on Wikipedia, it “refers to a platonic relationship wherein one person, most commonly a man, wishes to enter into a romantic or sexual relationship, while the other does not. It is generally considered to be an undesirable or dreaded situation by the lovelorn person.” So basically, in simpler terms, it is the equivalent of unrequited love. Think of the movie (500) Days of Summer (great film, but that’s for another post…).
